The first statewide Watershed Initiative Tour is officially underway.

Representatives with the state office of Homeland Security started their tour at the Cajundome to discuss flooding issues.

They’ll be stopping by cities across the state to meet with elected and government officials and technical experts in each area to discuss flooding issues and prevention measures.

Stops are planned in West Monroe, Pineville, Shreveport, Houma, Lake Charles, Hammond and Baton Rouge.

The stops will be divided into technical workshops for technical professionals like floodplain managers, engineers, GIS professionals and scientists; initiative exchange for local, regional, state and federal officials; and briefings for area elected officials.
